Why has this page been setup?
To have a space to write about Tamil Ceyyul.
For what reason?
So that anyone who wishes to may learn Centamil tradition.
Who is the author of these pages?
It is written by Nondikuruvi, servant of the servants of the servants of vast Tamil, may it be known.
Why does he write in Tamil?
He writes in Tamil for that is tradition. And why is this important? To answer that we may quote his kural venpa adaptation of a popular western saying, as follows:
Boasting about ashes — that is not living tradition.
Living tradition is a burning hot fire that swells and rises.
To speak in length about tradition, only to not use it would relegate it to the clinical area of academic studies. And when a tradition’s only remaining refuge is in the minds and words of the academics, then it has ceased to be alive. A living tradition must be in practice to be alive, so it is said.
Then why does he write in English too?
He does this to make these resources more accessible, for those who have not had the opportunity to learn Tamil in-depth. But the ultimate goal should be to attain the ability to work with the Tamil directly. But towards that journey, English may aid some in serving as a bridge.
Furthermore, for those who have passing interests in these topics and do not know Tamil, so that it may give a glimpse into these topics.
நோக்கம்
இருந்தமிழே உன்னால் இருந்தேன் இமையோர்;
விருந்தமிழ்தம் என்றாலும் வேண்டேன்– தமிழ்விடுதூது
இஃதன் நோக்கம் என்ன என்கையில்:
இது தமிழ் செய்யுளை பற்றி பதிவு செய்ய துவங்கப்பட்ட ஒரு இணையப்பக்கம்.
இஃது எதற்கு என்கையில்:
செந்தமிழ் மரபை யாவரும் அறிய பதிவு செய்ய.
இப்பக்கத்தை எழுதுபவர் யார் என்கையில்:
நொண்டிக்குருவி என்ற இருந்தமிழின் அடியார்களின் அடியார்க்கு அடியேன் அறிந்து கொள்க.
ஏன் தமிழில் எழுதி உள்ளான் என்கையில்:
மரபிற்க்கே தமிழில் எழுதியுள்ளான் இவன். இதில் என்ன சிறப்பு உண்டு? இதை அறிய மேல்நாட்டோரின் வாய்மொழியை தமிழில் வரைக்கும் ஒரு வெண்பாவை காண்க:
சாம்பலை வீம்பலில் வாழ்வில்லை வாழ்மரபே
வீங்கிநல் ஓங்கும்வெந் தீ
அருஞ்சொல் உரை (அ-ர):
வீம்பு – வீண்புகழ்ச்சி வீண்பெருமை கொள்ளுதல் (boasting/bragging)
பின் ஆங்கிலத்தில் எழுதியது என்னை (ஏன்) என்கையில்:
யாவரும் கற்றுக்கொள்ளவே அவ்வாறு செய்தான். தமிழை ஆழ்ந்து பயிலாதோரும் கற்றுக்கொள்ள. ஆயினும் தமிழில் பயில்வதை குறியாய் கொள்வதே சிறப்பு. அப்புலமையை நோக்கி நடக்கும் பாதையில் சிலருக்கு துணையாய் கொள்ளவே இவ்வாறு செய்தான்.
அதுவும் அன்ன, தமிழ் அல்லாதோரும் அறியாதோரும் தமிழ் மரபை கண்டு களி கொள்ளவும் அவ்வாறு செய்தான்.
இவ்வடியேன் அறிந்தது இஃதே.
